Hey Y’all! I’m so thrilled to be here at TidyMom’s today! I adore Cheryl who constantly amazes me with her wonderful ideas and incredible photography! I’m Myra and I blog at My Blessed Life about home decor, diy projects, crafts, recipes and more. My goal is to inspire you to creatively thrive in your home! Today I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to decorate for holidays, seasons and parties – homemade banners.
Decorating with Banners
Banners are inexpensive and easy to make. I love making banners out of card stock and scrapbook paper that I can find on sale frequently at Hobby Lobby. The banners I create are typically very simple crafts that anyone can do! This past Spring, I made a pleated rosette banner with the word “grow.” You can change up the colors, papers and word to fit your decor!
Banners are versatile and easily customized. Generic banners can be used year after year for birthdays and holidays, so your initial investment of time and money keeps on giving! In January, I made this pennant birthday banner for my little man who turned two. I’m planning on using this same banner again for his other birthdays. I made it neutral enough {blues and greens} so it should fit in with many different birthday parties.
Banners add layers and texture. From pleated paper and colors to different shapes and layered scrapbook paper and card stock, banners add a textural element to any seasonal or party decor.
Last Fall, I made this leaf banner. My little man helped me out with this banner because I used crayons {any little person’s favorite!} to make the leaf outlines. We really enjoyed the various leaf shapes and colors in this banner.
I just completed a “Freedom” banner for the 4th of July. I blended two different concepts – a pennant shape and a pleated rosette together. I love how it turned out because the white rosettes really bring the patriotic flair up several notches with the red and blue.
Those are a few ways that I’ve used banners to decorate my home. I hope you feel inspired to create a banner {or two, or three} for upcoming holidays and parties at your home. Next on my banner-making list is something for the Fall! Thank you so much Cheryl for having me today! 🙂 C’mon over and connect with me at My Blessed Life!
