Wow…..how did December get here already? Today I’m excited to share my Christmas Mantel Decor with you as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Home Tour Series hosted by Krista from The Happy Housie and April from House By Hoff! Be sure to check the week-long schedule at the end of this post for more Christmas decor inspiration.
Our weather in St. Louis has been basically anything but holiday like, so it’s been really hard to get in the mood to decorate for Christmas. We did manage to get our tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving, while Allison was still home to help.
My Christmas mantel is the result of a few trips to Target 😉 It all just fell into place, with no real planning.
If you take a look at my Fall Mantel from over a year ago, and my Spring Mantel that I shared earlier this year, you will see that I kept many of the elements, and swapped out a few items for Christmas. The old books, the candlesticks, and glass vases have remained for over a year throughout the seasons.
Let’s Talk About My Christmas Mantel Decor
While shopping the past few weeks, I found the simple stocking holders in the dollar section of Target. Then I found the ADORABLE monogram stockings and I knew I had something that would work. Later I spied the deer, Christmas car and lit bottle brush trees on another trip to Target. I use some fresh greenery from Trader Joes and I was set!!
I’m going to let you in on a little secret…….this is all the Christmas decorating I have done, and probably won’t really do much more.

Simplicity is something I’m trying to embrace.
I have countless totes full of holiday decor that we usually pull out every year and sprinkle every nook and cranny of our living space that I could.
While my family enjoyed it, it was stressing me out. Check out my Holiday Home Tour the first year we were in this home.
The past few years I’ve slowly pulled less and less out of those totes, and this year for the first time, I didn’t pull anything out from those totes, other than our Christmas ornaments and tree skirt.
My husband left the totes out for nearly two weeks before he asked……”aren’t you going to finish decorating the house?” I said…..”I have!!” and you know what? It feels really good!!
We have two grown daughters, Heather has her own home, and I have given her a few totes full of Christmas’ past to decorate her young home. While I have a few more stashed away for Allison, once she finishes college and has a place of her own.
We love listening to Christmas music while we decorate. I hope my Merry & Bright Christmas Playlist inspires you while you decorate your home!
For now, I’m enjoying the seasonal simplicity along with a few fresh new goodies that didn’t have to break the bank.

Ah! I love your mantle decor! It’s all so cozy and festive.
It all looks so beautiful and inviting!
So beautiful. We have several totes of unused decor collecting dust as well. Each season, I just want to ignore it and hit up the Target dollar spot instead. Ha! Happy Holidays – Kristy
If you happen to be finished using one of your stocking holders from Target, I would be happy to take it off your hands. Had a second baby and need a matching one to complete our set. 🙂 It looks lovely!
