This week over at I Heart Faces the photo challenge is “I Heart BEEF” . No need for a face this week. Amy & Angie say……
Whip out those tailgating photos, dad at the grill, a chili cook-off or take a photo of your favorite beef recipe. It’s all about food and we want to see how creative you can get with beef. We especially would love to see your mouth watering beef dishes.
So I thought this would be the perfect time to share something that I picked up in NYC with The Family Dish when we visited Chelsea Market.
First of all……Chelsea Market is AH-MAZING!! We had a VERY special private tour from Christine of Unilever and her awesome 10 year old son Luc. Luc was so full of knowledge and passion for Chelsea Market, he was THE BEST tour guide…….and check this out, him and his mom even have their own blog together, The Mouths, where they both share their passions for food and cooking.
Want to know more about Chelsea Market? My good friend Janet was just there this week and took incredible pictures and blogged about it here.
Ok, so back to my story…….while I was there I stopped at and purchased a small jar of Black Truffle Salt at The Filling Station. As soon as I sampled it in their store, I knew I would LOVE it on steaks!
Last week we bought the most incredible steaks and I seasoned them with my Black Truffle Salt, seasoned salt and cracked black pepper, and grilled those puppies.
I have to say……..I don’t know if it was the steaks or the Black Truffle Salt….but they were THE BEST steaks we’ve had in a long time (ok, other than the incredible, melt in your mouth steak I had in NYC at Todd English’s Ca Va I’m STILL dreaming about THAT steak!)
So, to make a short story L O N G {haha} The night I grilled our steaks I took a few pictures, and thought this one turned out really cool because of the flames shooting up……do you see the dragon face in the flames?!
How to Grill the Best Steaks
- Season with Lawry’s Seasoned Salt and Cracked Black Pepper
- Sprinkle with a little Black Truffle Salt
Using a Gas Grill (we have a Weber and LOVE it…..they last for years and years)
- preheat grill on high
- Sear steaks on high for 4 mins (for 1-1/4″ steaks)
- turn steaks over and continue cooking on Medium Indirect Heat turning once, half way thru cooking time, 10 mins for medium doneness.
For other thickness or desired doneness see Weber.com Grilling Guide.
Get your recipes out because everyone who enters a photo this week and uses the special button in their post, is entered to win a $250 gift card for Nolan Ryan’s beef from Txbeef.org!!
**Remember, since this is a photo challenge week, there can only be ONE photo in your post.**

Great pic! My husband is going to love this week’s challenge! LOL!
I see a long-horn bull in the flame, which is even more of a lucky shot! Great work 🙂

I love beef; it’s always such a treat when we have it for dinner!
Now that makes my mouth water! I love the flames licking at the beef. You can just hear the sizzle 🙂
“So, to make a short story L O N G”….that made me laugh! Reminds me of MY blog! 😉
Your picture is great with the flames! I hope you win!!! BugMan needs some Texas beef! 😉
That looks totally delicious. I have never had truffle anything : (
Great capture! I love the flame coming up… sizzle, sizzle, yum yum! And black truffle salt? Wow… that’s a new one. Sounds so very yummy… I am ALL about simple, especially when it ends up being “simply fantastic”!
Anyone who uses Lawry’s on beef is a friend of mine. Perfect! Yummy.
