When I was a teen growing up, my mom would make us help clean the house before we could head out for fun on the weekends.  I like to think I got my love of coming home to a clean house from my mom.

As an adult, even when I worked outside the home, I would get up a little earlier and do some cleaning before I’d leave the house because it was so worth it when I would come home to a clean house at the end of an exhausting day!

I’m always on the lookout for ways to make housekeeping more efficient so I can have more time for fun…..like crafting and sleeping in 😉 .

Last week I had some free time to make my daughter an address planter box for her house.

Her house number is ONE.  She currently has a 1 on the house but it doesn’t really show up.  A few months ago I saw a cute house number planter box with faux succulents and thought “I could make that for Heather’s house”!!  It was super easy and hands-on time took maybe 20 minutes + drying time.  No tools are even needed!

It turned out beautiful!! A modern house number planter sure looks better than a lonely metal number on the house and people can definitely spot her address easier!

Wouldn’t an address planter make a great hostess or housewarming gift?

I just wanted to let you know this simple craft for your home is sponsored by my friends at Clorox®!

Supplies:

I picked up most of the supplies at Michaels.  The self-stick house number is from the hardware store.

Step 1:  Paint and seal. Using the foam brush, paint the unfinished board and box. Give them both at least 2 coats, allowing the paint to dry in between.  Then seal the paint with decoupage or you can even use Outdoor Mod Podge if the address planter will be more exposed to the elements.

Step 2: Glue.  Cover the back side of the box with wood glue.  Place onto the board and let dry at least an hour. I had planned to use screws to attach as well, but the glue was plenty strong.

Step 3:  Address Number(s).  Place the number(s) where they will go on the sign.  My number was self-stick, making it super easy.

Step 4: Plant Your Succulents:  You can find some really great looking faux succulents these days and I wanted something that would be maintenance free.  Add some floral foam that fits your box and fill with the faux succulents.  If you’d like to plant real succulents, be sure to drill a few holes in the bottom of your box for drainage.  Mount with exterior mounting tape or screws.
