I’m Lovin’ It – The New Sonoma Diet

If you hang around here at all, you know I’m trying to watch what I eat, and lose a little weight {aren’t we all this time of year? lol}.

So it was perfect timing when I was asked if I would like to review a new book called The New Sonoma Diet by Dr. Connie Guttersen.

I was lucky enough to meet and cook with Connie at the Culinary Institute of American in Napa Valley with Bush’s Beans last October.  I heard about Connie’s book while I was there, and was excited to get my hands on it!  What excited me most is that Connie is a dietitian and a nutrition instructor CIA, so I knew this wouldn’t be “just another diet book!”   The nutrition information is current and accurate and the recipes look delicious.

Connie is SO passionate about healthy food and eating, and a diet book that promotes having a glass of wine with dinner (after the first 10 days) definitely gets brownie points in MY book!

Connie’s approach is more about making it into an enjoyable lifestyle instead of a “diet”, which leads to a happier, healthier life.  The book and website NewSonomaDiet.com (a property of Everyday Health, Inc.) shuns boring “diet” meals, shakes, and bars. There’s no calorie counting, measuring, or weighing. Nutrition science is translated into an easy plan and plate guidelines make smart food combinations easy.  The emphasis is on eating the types of food that the Sonoma area is known for: fresh vegetables, fruits, lean meats, fish, whole grains, nuts and of course, invites a glass of wine with meals.

The New Sonoma Diet includes many time saving recipes featuring Sonoma Express and Cook Once Eat Twice meals, Gluten-free recipes,as well as dozens of helpful culinary tips.  It shows you the most flavorful ways to lose weight and gain a healthy lifestyle.

Good food doesn’t have to taste terrible, the Sonoma Diet is filled with healthy and delicious options to help make losing weight a pleasure, not a chore.
