It’s almost that time of year again…..back to school.  With a college age daughter, back to school also means moving. This year, Allison will be moving into her first apartment.   So when Scotch Brand asked if I was interested in talking about Scotch Moving and Storage tape, the timing was perfect.  We all know that moving can be stressful, as is college.  So I wanted to make the move as smooth as possible.  We made a list of the rooms in her apartment that she would be packing for and created colorful moving labels to keep the move more organized and less stressful.

Each label is color coded with a header title so you know what room it needs to go to and is mostly will be filled with.

There is plenty of writing space to fill in the main items packed inside each box. Not only will it make unpacking easier, but if there are some boxes that don’t get unpacked right away, she will know where to find things that are still packed.

We have plastic storage tubs for most of her belongings. This way she can keep them stored under her bed or in her closet for extra storage.  But unlike cardboard boxes, you can’t just write on the box with a marker.

Instead of buying sticker paper, we just printed the moving labels on copy paper and used scissors to cut the labels apart.

To prepare for the move, we created two sets of moving labels for the boxes we are packing.  The first set of moving labels includes labels for kitchen, bedroom, desk, bathroom, laundry and decor.  The second set of moving labels are blank labels, so you can add the rooms you might need (that a college apartment didn’t need) like basement, family room, storage, office, dinning room and garage.  Just download your own set and print as many as you need on 8×10 copy paper.

We then wrote on the labels either what we had packed inside, or what we planned to pack inside and we used Scotch Moving & Storage tape to attach the labels to the bins.

We are not finished packing yet, but we have a good start, things are organized and we can see at a glance what we already have.

Is there a move in your future?  You can download our colorful printable moving labels (there are blank labels too, so you can customize the rooms/needs of your move).

Now if we could just find out who her roommate will be, we can mark another stress off her list 😉
