Cookie tips & Button of Hope {Giveaway}

I’m sharing my tidy secret to rolling cookie dough

**********

On another note…..

Cindy recently emailed me about her 6 year old niece, Sirri, who was diagnosed with cancer almost 2 years ago and is thankfully a survivor today!

She had a potato sized tumor in her tiny little chest squeezed in between her heart and lungs. It is truly a miracle and act of God that she is alive today. But her family also cannot go without recognizing the efforts of the American Cancer Society. Sirri’s family’s experience was made so much lighter because of the efforts of the American Cancer Society. They do so much for those suffering with and the families of those suffering with cancer.

They would not be able to do half of what they do without the help of ordinary people donating and raising funds through various events like the Relay For Life.

Cindy told me:

To celebrate and honor Sirri’s life my family and some very close friends are participating in Relay For Life on the evening of Friday, June 25th to help raise money to save the lives of others.
As part of Relay For Life we are expected to raise money to contribute to the efforts of the American Cancer Society. We have a goal of raising $5,000 as a team.
In an effort to do my part, I have been working long and hard to get an etsy shop, Button of Hope up and running. I have made earrings, necklaces, and hair pins and am currently selling them. 100% of my proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.

All of us on the team have come up with our own ways to fund raise and have a goal to raise $5,000. And we are actually more than half way there!!!

Our family feels so blessed to have Sirri with us today. For me personally, she is one of the lights and joys of my life. She is my “little squish” and someone I can’t imagine life without. She is a healthy and thriving 6 year old who is constantly making us laugh, loves her first grade class, playing with her friends, performing for her family, and painting her fingernail.”

Here is a small sample of what Cindy is selling in her shop, Button of Hope . . .

With your help, more families will be able to enjoy the outcome we now, so gratefully, enjoy.

I love the Sher hair pin- that fabric just calls to me but all of her stuff is gorgeous. I don't think there are too many people not affected in some way by cancer. While I don't have any family members who have been diagnosed with it, I have many friends and unfortunately an in-law that has been. My sister -in-law and I work very hard for our school's Relay for Life team (we are teacher's at the same school and she is the chairperson and I am reinforment). I think this etsy site is such a cool idea. I might suggest that we start one with all the crafty pwople we have around here. Thanks!!!!

I love the Roz Hair Pin & the Lisa Earrings. My Grandmother had breast cancer. Now a close friend's little boy has cancer and is going through treatments right now. It breaks my heart to think that even some children have to suffer from this. littlejeni[at]hotmail[dot]com

I love the Sheena hair pin and pin stripe earrings! What a creative product!

Cancer has definitely touch my family. My great-grandmother had breast cancer as did her daughter (my grandmother's sister), my father had melanoma, and my best-friend's mother just went through massive surgery for a lyposarcoma that weighed 30 pounds!

God's goodness shines through my husband though! He was diagnosed with aggressive adrenal cancer in the first grade and given a 5% chance of survival. We just celebrated 3 years of marriage yesterday and are coming up on his 20 year diagnosis anniversary! Praise God!

Thanks for the giveaway…I love the 'Roz hairpins' and the 'Lisa earrings'. I have worked in an assisted living center as a medical technician and had a lot of opportunity to mingle with cancer-affected seniors and could understand the pain they were going through. My experience there really enriched my life!!!

what a sweet face. LOVE celebrating survivors!
I just wanted to send out a note, I've used so many of your tips (thanks!;) and when I got a bunch of responses from a recent project on FB I decided to make a little "tutorial" on my blog of how I deal with all the school work that comes home every year. So, I'm sharing my tidy-ness to yours truly in case it helps another mom out there. I learn SO much from other people, especially on blogs….
thanks again & best wishes to sweet Sirri!!!

I think this is an amazing idea, my husband, daughter and I are getting ready to run the PECERace for prostace cancer in Denver in September. My dad is in hospice care right now. I never thought I would be affected so directly by cancer. My great grandmother died from stomach cancer, and I have lost two great aunts to breast cancer. It is not a fun thing to watch anyone go through.

I love the hazel hair clips and the Kristie earings.

I am grateful that everything turned out wonderful for Sirri!

What a great cause! I lost my dad to lung cancer and my mil to lymphoma. Unfortunately, we are losing my fil to intestinal cancer right now. He's okay for now, but we know we have to cherish every moment.

On a lighter note, my favorite piece is the Sher Hair Pin! :)
