Last weekend we had the opportunity to volunteer our help at a wonderful holiday event – The Gateway Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society presented Winter Wonderland 2009.
Allison Starling created an evening of wintry magic and holiday family fun to get us in the holiday spirit….Family photos with Santa. Delicious Food, Activities for the kids – cookie decorating, ornament painting, time with Rudolph and Frosty and there was a wonderful performance by The Muny Kids .
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin’s lymphoma. According to Allison Starling, director of special events, more than 900,000 Americans are affected by blood-related diseases. Blood cancer is the leading cause of death for children under age 19, yet it strikes 10 times as many adults!
Danielle of Extrodinary Mommy had contacted me several weeks prior to the event asking if I knew of anyone who could help with the event. They were in need of volunteers; elves to work with the children and volunteers to dress in full Rudolph and Frosty costumes.
I knew right away that my girls and their friends would love to help out!
Hollywood’s boyfriend was my first thought for Rudolph!! He’s done a full costume before and he’s great with kids! Sunshine and her friends were excited to wear some elf bling and help out at the children’s stations!
I got a little video clip of Rudolph dancing while the carolers sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer! LOL

It was a beautiful evening, children were able to get their pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, spend time with Rudolph and Frosty, play games, decorate cookies and ornaments, while their parents shopped the silent auction and everyone enjoyed delicious food and a wonderful performance by The Muny Kids!
